Ambit Cares Sets New Fundraising Record During AMBITION 2020 Virtual Conference
IRVING, Texas — Sept. 30, 2020 — Ambit Cares, Ambit Energy’s nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in America, set a new fundraising event record by raising more than $32,000 as part of national Hunger Action Month and the company’s annual conference, AMBITION 2020. The event was held online for the first time due to COVID-19 with Ambit Independent Consultants viewing and interacting in the virtual event across the United States and Canada.
“With the impact of the pandemic and natural disasters weighing heavily on the communities we serve, we wanted to challenge our consultants and employees to set a new fundraising record to help fight hunger during our annual AMBITION conference,” said Anna Batman, program director of Ambit Cares. “The online nature of this year’s event made it a little hard to predict what kind of response we’d get, but our Ambit family really came through in a big way.”
To help meet this goal, Ambit’s parent company, Vistra, pledged to match every donation made during the event, which took place September 17-19.
Over the three-day period, consultants, employees, and friends of Ambit donated more than $16,000, breaking the company’s previous donation record at AMBITION by more than $3,000. These generous contributions paired with Vistra’s pledge to match donations yielded a total of more than $32,000 to support Ambit Cares’ mission to help provide hunger relief.
“We know that many of our consultants are also feeling the effects of a tighter economy due to the pandemic, and we truly appreciate that they were willing to reach into their pockets and do something to help others in their community,” said Eric Johnstone, Ambit’s vice president of marketing and field services. “Because Ambit Cares is a Supporting Partner of Feeding America®, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a network of food banks, our donors can be sure their contributions are going to work right in their community.”
This fundraising effort follows a $50,000 donation to Feeding America to help provide relief to people affected by the pandemic, and $20,000 in donations to support communities affected by recent hurricanes.
