Ambit Energy CIO Recognized as 2017 Dallas CIO of the Year
(DALLAS) – Ambit Energy, the world’s largest direct seller of energy and a leading national retail energy provider, today announced the company’s Chief Information Officer, John Burke, was named 2017 Enterprise CIO of the Year® by the Dallas CIO Leadership Association.
Burke leads the design and development of Ambit’s system software, including overseeing the company’s security and infrastructure systems. As a founding partner of Ambit, Burke manages more than 165 employees and created an IT infrastructure that allowed the company to expand into 74 markets across 16 states since it was founded in 2006.
“It is an honor to be recognized among an extremely talented group of IT professionals, but this award is truly a testament to the entire Ambit team’s commitment to success,” said Burke. “We often refer to ourselves as a data processing company in the energy industry, which is due to our close collaboration with the entire leadership team to create business-dedicated software that aligns with the company’s goals.”
Ambit’s technology infrastructure has been instrumental in enabling the company to be successful and experience unprecedented growth. The company was named the No. 1 fastest growing private company by Inc. Magazine in 2010 and appeared on the prestigious list for six consecutive years. Ambit has already surpassed milestones of 1.3 million customers and $1.4 billion in annual sales.
Burke also serves on the board of directors for Ambit Cares, the company’s foundation designed to fight hunger throughout the U.S., including North Texas. In addition to this honor, the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Society of Information Management named Burke IT Executive of the Year for the DFW region in 2011, and Information Week named him one of the Top 25 CTOs of 2010.
