Ambit Energy as ‘Fastest-Growing Company’ in Dallas
Dallas‐based energy provider receives highest honor from SMU’s Cox School of Business’ Dallas 100™
(DALLAS) – Ambit Energy, a leading national retail energy provider based in north Texas, was honored as the fastest‐growing privately held company in Dallas for 2009 by the Dallas 100 Awards™ co‐founded by Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business and the SMU Caruth Center for Entrepreneurship.
“To be recognized as the fastest growing company by the prestigious SMU Cox School of Business for our contribution to north Texas is an honor,” said Ambit Energy CEO Jere Thompson, Jr. “This award applauds growth, and we’re certainly pleased with how far we’ve come in such a short time. But from the very beginning we have emphasized that we will never sacrifice integrity for growth. To be able to accomplish both is what we’re most proud of.”
Thompson is the first entrepreneur in the 19‐year history of the SMU Cox Dallas 100TM to take two different companies to the top ranking, having done so with CapRock Communications in 1997.
To qualify for the Dallas 100TM, a company must be privately held and headquartered in the Dallas area. Award winners were chosen based on increased growth in sales, with weight placed on percentage of growth and absolute dollar growth in the three years preceding the event. In addition, job growth at the company increased more than 890 percent in three years with 22 employees in 2006 to more than 200 now.
“Our first decision was to build the finest and most respected retail energy provider in the country, and prestigious awards like this certainly indicate that we’re on the right path,” said Thompson. “Thanks especially to all of our wonderful people at Ambit Energy for making it possible.”
Ambit Energy is a residential energy provider of electrical and natural gas services in the deregulated markets of Texas, Illinois and New York. The company offers cost‐effective and sound choices for today’s energy consumer.
